THAILAND
A land of golden temples, tropical shores and vibrant everyday life.
Explore Thailand
Thailand moves with an easy confidence — a country where sacred traditions, expressive food culture, contemporary city life and tropical landscapes sit naturally alongside one another. In Bangkok, temple bells and riverside rituals share space with creative neighbourhoods and late-night energy. Further north, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai reveal a quieter rhythm shaped by Lanna heritage, mountain landscapes and craft traditions, while the south opens into limestone coastlines, warm seas and island life.
With Oriva Journeys, Thailand is not simply about moving between famous places. It is about noticing the details that give each region its character — the scent of herbs in a morning market, the calm of a temple courtyard, the warmth of a family-run kitchen, or the changing light over the Andaman Sea. We shape journeys that leave room for both discovery and ease.

Before You Go
A few useful things to know before planning your journey through Thailand.
1. When is the best time to visit Thailand?
Thailand can be visited throughout the year, but weather patterns vary between regions. The cooler and drier period from roughly November to February is one of the most popular times for Bangkok, northern Thailand and many inland destinations. March and April are typically hotter, while the rainy season brings greener landscapes and fewer crowds in many areas.
Southern Thailand requires a little more attention because the Andaman coast and Gulf coast follow different seasonal patterns. The Tourism Authority of Thailand notes that the Andaman side generally has its more favourable beach season from around November to April, while parts of the Gulf coast can work well during different months.
Rather than choosing one “perfect” month for the entire country, it is better to plan around the specific regions and experiences you want to includ
2. How many days do I need for Thailand?
Around 10–14 days is a comfortable amount of time for a first journey. This gives you enough room to combine Bangkok with northern Thailand or one southern beach region without making the itinerary feel rushed.
With around one week, it is usually better to focus on a single theme — for example Bangkok and Ayutthaya, or Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. With two weeks, you can combine city, culture and coast more comfortably.
Three weeks or more allows you to slow the pace further, include smaller towns or islands, and spend more time enjoying local experiences rather than moving constantly between destinations.
3. What are the best places to visit in Thailand?
Bangkok is a natural starting point for many journeys, combining historic temples, river life, markets and contemporary city culture. Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai offer a different atmosphere in the north, shaped by Lanna heritage, mountain landscapes and local craft traditions. Ayutthaya is ideal for travellers interested in history and archaeology.
In the south, Krabi and Phuket are among the best-known gateways to Thailand’s beaches and islands. Each offers a different balance of scenery, activity and atmosphere.
The best route depends less on a checklist of famous places and more on whether you want your journey to focus on culture, food, nature, beaches or a combination of all four.
4. Can Oriva create a tailor-made Thailand journey?
Yes. Oriva Journeys can shape a Thailand itinerary around your interests, preferred pace, travel dates and the kind of experiences you value most.
You may want to spend more time exploring food and neighbourhood life in Bangkok, slow down in northern Thailand, focus on temples and heritage, or balance cultural travel with a few quieter days by the sea. We can adjust the route, accommodation style and daily rhythm accordingly.
The aim is to create a journey that feels natural and balanced — not one that simply adds more stops for the sake of covering more ground.
5. What kind of experiences can I have in Thailand?
Thailand offers a wide range of experiences beyond sightseeing. Your journey might include exploring morning markets, learning regional recipes, visiting artisan communities, cycling through rural landscapes, spending time in temple towns, hiking in the north, or travelling between islands in the south.
Food is also one of the most rewarding ways to experience the country, with strong regional differences in flavour and tradition. Wellness, massage, local festivals, river journeys and outdoor activities can also be woven naturally into an itinerary.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand highlights activities ranging from Thai cooking and massage to cycling, trekking, diving, kayaking and cultural experiences across the country.
6. Is Thailand suitable for first-time travellers to Southeast Asia?
Yes. Thailand is often an approachable introduction to Southeast Asia because it combines a well-developed travel infrastructure with a wide variety of cultural and natural experiences.
Within one journey, travellers can experience major cities, historic capitals, mountain regions, local food culture and tropical coastlines. Transport options are extensive, and it is relatively straightforward to combine different parts of the country.
For a first visit, the main consideration is pacing. Thailand offers enough variety that it is easy to overfill an itinerary. Leaving more time in fewer places often creates a much better sense of the country.
